Common Mission Data Loader (CMDL) software is a member of the Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS) integrated suite of applications.  The PFPS suite is a Windows 2000 based software collection; primary components include Combat Flight Planning Software (interactive kneeboard card) and FalconView (digital mapping).

CMDL is designed to be a user-friendly mission-planning instrument that loads Flight Plans, Reversionary and Primary Point Library files, GPS Almanac data and Magnetic Variation (MagVar) coefficients to a Data Transfer Device (DTD), commonly referred to as “Brick”.  The Brick is subsequently carried to the aircraft, and the mission data is transferred to onboard computers to initialize systems.

CMDL consist of two components, the CMDL tool and the Primary Library Builder tool.  The CMDL tool allows the user to choose which Flight Plans, Reversionary Point Library files and Primary Point Library files are loaded to the Brick and allows the user to create Reversionary Point Library files.  The Primary Library Builder tool allows the user to create Primary (and Reversionary, if desired) Point Library files.
